Sweet Fancies is a boutique baking company, specializing in a unique line of products that cater to the fancies and imagination of the child in us all.
Started in 2014, Sweet Fancies quickly became known for its delicious and creative cakes and desserts. By 2018, the company had reached a plateau and was looking for a new direction. Always with the goal of creating unique products, the discussion revolved around how to create something signature. This new product had to be fun, easy and novel.
The result? The Popple.
Created from a hybrid of a cake and a waffle, this new dessert was baked on a stick and covered in sweet… fancies. Launched on August 11th, 2018 to a massive crowd at the Eddie Hart Food Strip, the new Popples sold out in less than two hours. With little more than a tent, a laptop and incredible creativity, the strategy used excited a brand new market about a product they had never seen before. This novelty approach exponentially expanded the marketing reach.
Following in the wake of the launch, the social media campaign continued, growing the Sweet Fancies IG page to over 4000 followers, and the Facebook page to over 13,000 followers. Shortly after, a website was developed, which has now become the main channel for orders. This project saw the strategy and creative developed for:
- A complete rebrand – Logo, stationery, voicing and positioning strategy
- Full social media campaign, which is still ongoing
- Signage and stall design
- Website design and development
- Packaging design
As Sweet Fancies continues to grow, it adds more products to its lineup. Currently offering Popples, Churro Bombs, cakes, éclairs, ice cream sandwiches (in collaboration with Kingdom Ice Cream) and specialty desserts, the company is on a steady path of amazing growth.

The story of the Popple starts with a cake and a waffling falling in love. They went on to make babies and dressed them each in chocolate, sprinkles, pretzels, caramel and other such fancie things.
This story drives the characters that make up the Sweet Fancies brand. With Sprinkle, the eccentric unicorn and Calma, the mellow llama taking the forefront, the family of characters grows. With a depressed doughnut and a sinister cinnamon stick named Count Von Cinnamon, these fun, quirky characters lay the groundwork for a massive brand and the exciting development of their franchises. Fun, excitement, colour and fantasy are what drive Sweet Fancies and keep customers coming back again and again.
